Seargin is looking for a Data Engineer

Main tasks for the Data Engineer will be:

• Designing and implementing the solution and justifying the choices to the product owner (located in CA, USA)
• Reviewing the current architecture and confronting this with challenges, limitations and new requirements for post pilot release
• Sharing the knowledge by code/design reviews, etc.
• Working on project in a therapeutic research area: genetics, biotechnology

The Candidate should have:

• Professional background with:
  • JVM programming (minimum one of Java, Scala) and backend frameworks like Spring Boot
  • Orchestrating data processing pipelines
  • Controlling data processing
  • Different data formats for big data like PARQUET and data compressions
• At least 3 years of data engineering professional experience, majority of time spent on practical experience
• Knowledge of architecture and design of big data solutions, ability to justify decisions and choices
• Willingness to share knowledge with other team members
• Ability to work in a distributed work environment (part of the team working remotely and in different time zones, Product Owner and users in California - calls after 5pm 1-2 times a week)
• Team-oriented, detail-oriented, efficient and solution-oriented attitude
• Superb analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team
• Great English skills (written and spoken)

It would be a plus if the Candidate had: 

• Experience with big data volumes Apache Spark JVM tuning messaging systems like RabbitMQ RDBMS databases and ETL processing
