The main tasks for the Release Train Engineer will be:
  • Managing and optimizing the value flow of the existing solution and supervising the release train
  • Managing and optimizing the flow of value through the Agile Release train (ART) using various tools, such as the Kanban Trello, Smartsheet, Risk and issue log along with other information radiators, which provides visibility for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and submitting the annual and QTRLY calendars/roadmaps for iterations and Program Increments (PIs), working closely with Communications for quality assurance. Informing stakeholders of significant changes to the roadmaps, consulting the EPO
  • Communicating & summarizing Team PI Objectives into initiative PI Objectives (the RTE) and publishing them for visibility and transparency to internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitating PI (QTRLY) planning and initiative agile ceremonies including PO Sync, Scrum of Scrums, Retrospectives, Solution Demos etc.
  • Supporting a Continuous Exploration process that leads to the synthesis of Vision, Roadmap and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events
  • Assisting in making economic decisions by facilitating the estimation of functions and capabilities by teams and the rolling-up to Epics, as needed training leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Working with the EPO to ensure that the strategic direction (annual goals, QTRLY targets and feature releases) is translated and aligned with the delivery plan across all teams. Ensuring that the initiative master schedule and QTRLY milestones are tracked, met or reset as needed, working closely with the Initiative Project Manager to ensure they align with the roadmap
  • Creating clarity on obstacles at initiative level, proactively reporting them to EPO, POs, SMs and management representatives. Removing obstacles/risks hindering the initiative, actively ensuring that mitigations are put in place
  • Providing resource input to resolve critical bottlenecks with the Initiative Manager
  • Encouraging collaboration between EPO, Initiative Manager, Business Analysts (BA’s), Product Owners (PO’s), and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Driving continuous improvement through Inspect and Adapt approaches; assessing the agility level of the ART and help them improve

The Candidate should have:
  • Experience in doing RTE for business/non-technical products
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and communicating roadmaps to for different stakeholders including executive-senior leadership and business stakeholders
  • Customer-oriented attitude with ability to apply this approach to everything he does
  • Exceptional servant leadership skills
  • Ability to operate from the perspective of the entire system, enterprise and understands the big picture
  • Seeking the right data to facilitate effective trade-off decisions
  • Agile mindset, continuous learning and feedback (inspect and adapt)
  • Ability to understand complex business process and influence business change
  • Strong awareness of geographic, cultural and organizational diversity
